The Top 10 Best Airlines In The World 2019

Skytrax has released the listing of best airlines in the world for 2019. The event was held last June 18, 2019 at the Paris Air ShowThis year Qatar Airways scooped the top award being named the World’s Best Airline. Singapore Airlines is at the top 2 spot and also won a top accolade as the World’s Best Cabin Crew, and was honoured with awards for the World’s Best First Class, the Best Airline in Asia and the World’s Best First Class Seat.

The event is dubbed as the “Oscars of the aviation industry”. The best airlines are ranked based on a customer survey where entries are carefully screened to ensure that no duplicates or ineligible entries go through. The online survey for 2019 awards operated from September 2018 to May 2019 with over 21.65 million entries submitted.

The top 10 list is dominated by Asian carriers with two from the Middle East and one from Europe. There are no US airlines who qualified for the top 10.

Here are the top airlines for 2019 :

01. Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways, the national carrier fo the State Of Qatar, has always been a top airline of choice in the Middle East region offering some of the premium luxury services for their flights. From number 2 spot last 2018, they rose to the top spot this year. Some of the awards that they also won are World’s Best Business Class and World’s Best Business Class Seat. Qatar Airways network spans business and leisure destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.

 

02. Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines is one of the youngest aircraft fleets in the world but they are among the best and well-respected travel brands. Their destinations span a wide network over six continents. Some of the accolades that Singapore Airlines also received are World’s Best Cabin Crew, Best Airline in Asia, World’s Best First Class, and World’s Best First Class Seat.

03. ANA All Nippon Airways

ANA All Nippon Airways of Japan is once again on the third spot for this year. Founded in 1952, ANA flies to around 80 international routes and over 110 domestic routes and is Japan’s largest airlines. This year they some of the awards that they also received are World’s Best Airport Services and World’s Best Business Class Onboard Catering.

 

04. Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific Airways is the flag carrier of Hong Kong and has been a mainstay in the top 10 list. From 6th place last year, it rose to the 4th place this year. Cathay Pacific offers scheduled passenger and cargo services to over 200 destinations in Asia, North America, Australia, Europe and Africa, using a fleet of close to 200 aircraft.

 

05. Emirates

Emirates Airline based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is the largest airline in the Middle East having a fleet of more than 230 aircraft, and flying to over 140 destinations in more than 80 countries around the world. The Emirates network is expanding constantly, with over 1,500 flights departing Dubai each week on their way to destinations on six continents. This year Emirates also received the World’s Best Inflight Entertainment award.

 

06. EVA Air

Taiwan’s EVA Air is among the Asian carriers which make it to the top 10 as well as getting the awards for the World’s Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness and World’s Best Economy Class Catering. EVA serves a global network that connects Asia and Mainland China to Europe, North America and Oceania and links more than 60 major business and tourist destinations. EVA operates from their hub at Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan.

 

07. Hainan Airlines

Rising one notch higher, China’s Hainan Airlines ranked at 7th in the list. At the end of June 2018, Hainan Airlines and its holding subsidiaries had over 400 aircraft in operation and 24 bases/branch companies. Hainan Airlines network covers China, numerous points in Asia and extends to Europe, North America and the South Pacific. Some of the notable awards they received this year are Best Airline in China and World’s Best Business Class Amenities.

08. Qantas Airways

From the 11th spot last year, Qantas rose to the top 8th spot this year. Founded in 1920, Qantas is the flag carrier of Australia and a founding member of the Oneworld airline alliance. Qantas is now Australia’s largest domestic and international airline. This year they also received the following awards Best Airline in Australia/Pacific, Best First Class in Australia/Pacific and Best Business Class in Australia/Pacific.

 

09. Lufthansa

Lufthansa is the only European carrier to make it to top 10. Among its list of achievements, Lufthansa is the largest German airline and the largest European airline in terms of fleet size and is one of the five founding members of Star Alliance. Lufthansa’s primary hub is Frankfurt Airport, with Munich Airport being the airlines’ secondary hub. Some of the notable awards that they received this year are Best Airline in Europe, Best First Class in Europe and Best Business Class in Europe.

 

10. Thai Airways

Thai Airways is another Asian carrier which made it to the list. Thai Airways is the flag carrier of Thailand which has a fleet of over 90 aircraft flying to 84 destinations in 37 countries. It also received the following awards for the year 2019: Best Airline Staff in Asia, World’s Best Airline Spa Facility and Best Cabin Crew in Thailand.
