Kobo Aura H2O

Price: $179.99

Why should you buy this?

This is a more affordable offering coming from Kobo. Aura H20 is a simple and lightweight e-reader for your daily use. The stunning and crisp display will make reading fun for everyone. For the heavy readers, the adjustable backlight and blue light filter will protect your eyes from straining.

Aura H20 was built to withstand some abuse. It is durable and waterproof. It can also store up to about 6,000 e-books — there’s always one book to read every day.

Why should you avoid this?

Aura H20 may still be expensive for some even though it has more expensive siblings. Being in the upper mid-range, its battery isn’t the best, either. You might find yourself looking for charger more than you would want to for an e-reader.

Kobo Clara HD

Price: $154.99

Why should you buy this?

Yet another model from Kobo. Clara HD is an even more affordable model. Yet it features Kobo’s signature gorgeous and crisp display. The size of this e-reader is also great for those on the go. It also comes with ComfortLight PRO, which changes colors for your eye comfort.

Why should you avoid this?

Since we are now in the midrange segment, there’s no waterproofing for Kobo Clara. Though to be fair, real books don’t have that either. Most books don’t cost $154.99, though.

The display is paperlike. You will have fun reading books with this device. It also comes with waterproofing and Audible support. The battery life? Impressive.  It also comes with 8 GB storage which is decent at this price point.

Why should you avoid this?

You can feel that is is midrange because of its plasticky feel. The lack of physical buttons may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
