For those who love to read and want to go paperless, e-readers are for you. E-readers provide convenience since you can store many books and take it wherever you are. Which e-readers are considered the best in the market? Let’s have a quick rundown.

Kobo Forma

Price: $279.99

Why should you buy this?

Kobo Forma boasts a gorgeous 8-inch screen. There’s no squinting with that massive display. It also features OverDrive integration. This will let you download books accessible from online public libraries directly to your reader. Its ComfortLight PRO Lighting system will adjust depending on the time of the day to make sure your eyes will be comfortable all day. The UI is intuitive to use. It is also comfortable in the hands since it is lightweight. Another bonus in favour of Kobo Forma is its waterproofing.

Why should you avoid this?

$279.99 is a huge price to pay for an e-reader. Not to mention it only comes with 8 GB storage, some avid book lovers might be left disappointed. There is also no integration for audiobooks.

Why should you buy this?

Kindle Oasis is an elegant e-reader perfect as a daily companion. The 7-inch screen is large enough for comfortable reading and not as overwhelming as the other larger sized readers. Why should you avoid this?

The price point is still steep for this e-reader, it isn’t for everyone. It also doesn’t come with a case, which, looking again at that price should have been possible. There’s also no headphone jack.

Kobo Aura H2O

Price: $179.99

Why should you buy this?

This is a more affordable offering coming from Kobo. Aura H20 is a simple and lightweight e-reader for your daily use. The stunning and crisp display will make reading fun for everyone. For the heavy readers, the adjustable backlight and blue light filter will protect your eyes from straining.

Aura H20 was built to withstand some abuse. It is durable and waterproof. It can also store up to about 6,000 e-books — there’s always one book to read every day.

Why should you avoid this?

Aura H20 may still be expensive for some even though it has more expensive siblings. Being in the upper mid-range, its battery isn’t the best, either. You might find yourself looking for charger more than you would want to for an e-reader.

Kobo Clara HD

Price: $154.99

Why should you buy this?

Yet another model from Kobo. Clara HD is an even more affordable model. Yet it features Kobo’s signature gorgeous and crisp display. The size of this e-reader is also great for those on the go. It also comes with ComfortLight PRO, which changes colors for your eye comfort.

Why should you avoid this?

Since we are now in the midrange segment, there’s no waterproofing for Kobo Clara. Though to be fair, real books don’t have that either. Most books don’t cost $154.99, though.

Kindle Paperwhite (2018)

Price: $149.99

Why should you buy this?

Last but not the least is the Kindle Paperwhite. It comes with thick bezels, reminiscent of smartphones and tablets. This makes it easy to grasp in the hands.

The display is paperlike. You will have fun reading books with this device. It also comes with waterproofing and Audible support. The battery life? Impressive.  It also comes with 8 GB storage which is decent at this price point.

Why should you avoid this?

You can feel that is is midrange because of its plasticky feel. The lack of physical buttons may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
