Today, October 2, marks the anniversary of the birth of Mohandas Gandhi. Gandhi is best remembered as the leading figure in the Indian independence from British rule and for advocating non-violence, civil rights and freedom.
The works, teachings and life of Gandhi inspired many other people all over the world. Thus, the title ‘Mahatma’, meaning great soul, was conferred to him. He was killed by a fanatic in 1948.
