Party Ideas For Summer Birthdays

Having a child who celebrates their birthday in summer means you can get creative with your ideas for their parties. Longer days and warmer weather means parties can take place outside – with an indoor space just in case!  And of course, a party in the summer holidays means it can actually happen on your child’s birthday instead of the nearest weekend. But, if ball pools are so last year, here are some ideas to help you plan the perfect summer party.

Pick a theme

The easiest way to get the ball rolling is pick a theme. The summer is a great time to throw a luau inspired party. Activities could include making Hawaiian skirts and flower leis, making pizzas (Hawaiian obviously), and playing games such as the limbo.

If you wanted to go all out, why not go for a Carnival. This could mean dancehall style music, and everyone wears bright clothes. You could even make headdresses and have a mini parade.

Enjoy a day out

Because many families are on holiday, it might be that only a few friends are around for the party, but that just means you can have an extra special day out. Choose somewhere that you wouldn’t normally go. This can be somewhere like Go Ape, or maybe Go Karting.

If you’re really treating your child, maybe take them and a few friends to a water park or theme park. If you invest in a Merlin Pass you’ll gain access and discounts to some of the UK’s best attractions.

Personalise your party

Transform an ordinary game of pass the parcel with personalised wrapping paper. Personalised cards and invitations add an extra special touch, so too do custom party bags. Choose decorations in their favourite colours, and have a cake made especially for them.

Have a sleepover

A sleepover party is perhaps one of the most fun things you can do for a summer party. Long evenings are perfect for staying up late, and if the weather holds, why not have an outdoor cinema? All you need is a white sheet, a projector and your favourite film. Use large rugs and cushions for extra comfort (and warmth), and lanterns and fairy lights help add a bit of glamour.

Hire a bouncy castle

Bouncy castles are the epitome of summer parties. From summer fetes to travelling fairs, hiring a bouncy castle for your back garden is the easiest way to transform your home into the coolest party pad.
